Admit it. August check list

Admit it: Applying to colleges requires an adherence to a rigorous schedule. These schedules include juggling test dates, obtaining school information and forms, securing letters of recommendations and researching potential schools. Most families lament the process and plea for organizational assistance. Crisp Consulting + Coaching could like to offer a August schedule that will help applicants in the college admissions process.

Check your list. The college list is critical and should meet the student’s academic, social and financial needs. A well-constructed list of eight to ten schools will establish a path for long-term success and produce a better chance of success in admission results.

Check the test requirements and schedules. Schedule testing. With ACT dates of September 21st, October 26th t and December 14th and SAT dates of October 5th, November 2nd and December 7th, now is the time to dedicate to admissions testing. Juniors will want to take the PSAT/NMSQT on October 16th. Review the median scores and testing policies of the schools in which you are most interested. Schedule test preparation that expands over several weeks with a dedicated two to three hours of test preparation a week.  With all schools, check the testing policy as some schools will require SAT Subject Tests in the requirements for admissions.

Check in with your guidance counselor or educational consultant. A meeting with your school counselor and/or an educational consultant can benefit your academic planning. Examine each college’s admission requirements and be aware that more selective colleges require more courses than those required for your high school graduation.

Check the Application. The Common Application and school-specific applications are launched in August.  Once you have narrowed your college list, register on these sites.  Remember to keep a record of your log in names and passwords.
